ReciReel Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ReciReel (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and Justin Burkard (“Developer,” “we,” “us,” “our”), the developer of ReciReel.

2. What ReciReel Is

ReciReel is a recipe management app for iPhone. It helps you save supported cooking links, organize recipes in your personal library, and cook step by step.

You paste a link. ReciReel turns it into a clean recipe card with ingredients, steps, and nutrition information.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use ReciReel. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

4. Your Account

You need an account to use ReciReel. You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate account information.
  • Maintaining the security of your login credentials.
  • All activity that occurs under your account.

One account per person. Do not share accounts.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@recireel.com.

5. Subscription Tiers and Billing

5.1 Tiers

ReciReel offers the following tiers:

Free includes:

  • Up to 3 full-quality recipe imports per month
  • Saved recipe library access for recipes in your account
  • Recipe editing and cook mode

Plus adds:

  • Up to 50 full-quality recipe imports per month
  • Higher launch usage limits than the Free tier
  • Any additional paid features only when they are displayed in the app and managed through the App Store

ReciReel may later offer a Premium tier or rename the future high-end tier. Any Premium features only apply when they are available in the app and shown in the App Store purchase flow.

5.2 Auto-Renewable Subscriptions

ReciReel Plus is offered as an auto-renewable subscription through Apple’s App Store. Any future Premium subscription will only be offered if it is available in the app and listed in the App Store purchase flow.

Important subscription terms:

  • Pricing: Current subscription prices are displayed on the upgrade screen within the App and on the App Store product page. Prices may vary by region and are set in App Store Connect.
  • Billing: All billing is handled by Apple through the App Store. ReciReel does not process payments directly and does not have access to your payment information.
  • Auto-renewal: Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each subscription period (monthly or annually, as selected) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through your iPhone’s Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions, or through the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you retain access to paid features until then.
  • Price changes: If we change subscription pricing, Apple will notify you in advance. You will need to agree to the new price for your subscription to continue.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple according to Apple’s refund policies. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. ReciReel does not process refunds directly.

5.3 Subscription Cancellation vs. Account Deletion

Canceling your subscription and deleting your account are separate actions:

  • Canceling your subscription stops future billing and downgrades your access to the Free tier at the end of the current paid period. Your account and data remain intact.
  • Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from our systems. This does not automatically cancel your App Store subscription — you must cancel separately through Apple to avoid continued billing.

6. Your Content

6.1 Ownership

Your content belongs to you. Your personal notes, cook session data, source links, and recipe customizations are yours. You can export the account data ReciReel stores for you from the Profile tab.

6.2 License to Us

By submitting content to ReciReel (such as recipe links, notes, and recipe customizations), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the ReciReel service to you. This license terminates when you delete your account.

6.3 Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab. Account deletion permanently removes all your stored data from our systems. This cannot be undone.

7. Imported Recipes and Original Creators

When you import a recipe from a social media post or website, ReciReel extracts and restructures that content so you can cook from it.

7.1 Source Attribution

ReciReel always stores and displays the original source URL and creator name when available. You can always find where a recipe came from.

7.2 Personal Use Only

ReciReel structures recipes for your personal cooking use. You should not copy imported recipes and republish them as your own work. The original creator deserves credit.

7.3 Creator Takedown Requests

If a content creator requests removal of their recipe content from our system, we will comply. Takedown requests should be directed to support@recireel.com. We maintain source-level traceability to support removal workflows.

ReciReel may show paid links for ingredients, optional ingredients, grocery items, or kitchen equipment. If you use those links, ReciReel may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Paid links do not change recipe ranking, recipe quality, source attribution, or the canonical recipe text. They are shopping conveniences, not required purchases.

8. Acceptable Use

ReciReel is for personal cooking. You agree not to:

  • Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to scrape or bulk-import content.
  • Commercially redistribute recipe content obtained through the App.
  • Use the App to build a competing recipe service or product.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users’ accounts.
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or any harmful code through the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App.

9. Food Safety and Health Disclaimer

ReciReel provides recipe information to help you cook. It is not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice.

You are responsible for:

  • Checking ingredients for allergens that affect you or your household.
  • Following safe food handling and cooking practices.
  • Consulting a physician, dietitian, or other qualified health professional for specific dietary needs.
  • Verifying nutritional information if accuracy is important for your health conditions.

Nutrition estimates are generated by AI and may not be perfectly accurate. Treat them as helpful approximations, not medical-grade data. Do not rely solely on ReciReel’s nutrition information for managing medical conditions such as diabetes, food allergies, or other health-sensitive dietary needs.

ReciReel does not provide Apple Health or HealthKit integration at launch. If a future Health integration ships, any logged nutrition data will still be based on these same estimated values unless the app says otherwise.

10. Intellectual Property

10.1 Our Intellectual Property

The ReciReel app, including its design, code, features, trademarks, logos, and documentation, is owned by Justin Burkard and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited license to use the App as described herein.

10.2 Your License to Use the App

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, in accordance with Apple’s App Store Terms of Service.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
  • AI-extracted recipe content will be complete or accurate.
  • Nutritional information will be precise.
  • The App will meet your specific requirements.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL JUSTIN BURKARD, RECIREEL, OR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • Any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
  • Damages arising from errors in AI-extracted recipe content.
  • Damages arising from nutritional information inaccuracies.
  • Damages arising from food safety issues related to recipe use.
  • Damages arising from service interruptions or data loss.
  • Damages arising from unauthorized access to your account.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US (THROUGH APPLE) IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY US DOLLARS (USD $50), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Justin Burkard and ReciReel from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • Your use of the App.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any third-party rights.
  • Any content you submit through the App.

14. Dispute Resolution

14.1 Informal Resolution First

Before filing any formal legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at support@recireel.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

14.2 Binding Arbitration

If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will be conducted in English, and the arbitrator’s decision will be final and binding.

14.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND RECIREEL AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR OUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

14.4 Exceptions

The following disputes are exempt from the arbitration requirement:

  • Claims that may be brought in small claims court.
  • Disputes related to intellectual property rights (patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets).
  • Claims for injunctive or equitable relief.

14.5 Opt-Out

You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to support@recireel.com within 30 days of first using the App. Your notice must include your name, email address associated with your account, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of arbitration.

15. Account Termination

15.1 By You

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab. All your data will be permanently removed.

15.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms, including the Acceptable Use provisions.
  • Engage in automated scraping or commercial redistribution.
  • Use the App in a way that harms other users or our systems.

If we terminate your account, we will notify you at the email address associated with your account with an explanation of the reason, unless doing so would compromise security or violate the law. You may request an explanation by contacting support@recireel.com.

15.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the App ceases immediately.
  • We will delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution, and Governing Law) will survive.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

To the extent that arbitration does not apply, you agree to submit to the exclusive personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California for the resolution of any disputes.

17. Changes to These Terms

If we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you through the App at least 30 days before the changes take effect and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document.

Your continued use of ReciReel after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App and delete your account.

18. Apple-Specific Terms

The following terms apply to your use of ReciReel as downloaded from the Apple App Store. These terms are required by Apple and supplement the rest of these Terms.

18.1 Acknowledgement

These Terms are between you and Justin Burkard only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). Justin Burkard, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content.

18.2 Scope of License

The license granted to you for the App is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

18.3 Maintenance and Support

Justin Burkard is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services for the App, as specified in these Terms or as required under applicable law. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.

18.4 Warranty

In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are Justin Burkard’s sole responsibility.

18.5 Product Claims

Justin Burkard, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession and/or use of the App, including but not limited to:

  • Product liability claims.
  • Any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement.
  • Claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.

18.6 Intellectual Property Claims

In the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, Justin Burkard, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.

You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

18.8 Third-Party Beneficiary

You and Justin Burkard acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple’s subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.

18.9 Third-Party Terms of Agreement

You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App (for example, your wireless data service agreement).

19. General Provisions

19.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any subscription terms presented at the time of purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and Justin Burkard regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

19.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

19.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right or provision.

19.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms without restriction.

19.5 Force Majeure

We will not be liable for any delay or failure in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, labor disputes, government actions, internet or power outages, or failures of third-party services.
